I am A Housewife, Can I Apply For Car Finance?

Hello Rachel, I am a housewife and my partner was made bankrupt a year ago but he is the only earner. Can we get finance in my name even though i have poor credit?
Asked by Lindsey
January 14, 2012
Hi Lindsey, thank you for using our Q&A.

We can help housewife's get car finance but this is a tricky situation if i'm honest. If you had good credit it wouldn't be an issue but, as you say you have poor credit the lenders we use will look for proof of income - as you have none they wouldn't approve you on your own unfortunately.

The only chance to get approved is to make a joint application with your husband as the main applicant as he's the one earning a wage.

Please make an application and once approved you can choose a car from any dealer and we also provide a no obligation quote. Kind Regards, Rachel

Employment related questions

I am fully employed through an agency at the moment but this should be made permanent at the beginning of July. Would this go against my application?

Asked by Justin Hume
January 14, 2012

Hi Justin, No - this wouldn't go against your application. As long as you can prove your income through payslips from the agency then you'd be eligible for car finance. Do you have a good, average or poor credit history? Regards, Rachel

Hi, my son is has been employed by an agency for about 2 years. Would he be able to get finance for a car?

Asked by Alex
January 14, 2012

Hi Alex, as long as your son has a UK bank account and driving licence and can prove his income with payslips or bank statements then we should be able to get him finance.

It doesn't matter if he's an agency worker as the good news is that we have lenders on our panel that can help. Does your son have a good or bad credit rating / history? Please make an application and once approved you can choose a car from any reputable dealer and we also provide a no obligation quote. Kind Regards, Rachel

I have worked for 2 agencies in the last 2 years in the automotive industry. Due to pay incentives i have moved to a better paid agency. Would this go against any application for finance for a car?

Asked by Paul Griffin
January 14, 2012

Hi Paul, thanks for the question. We can help agency workers and as long as you have 3 months payslips we'll be able to get you car finance if approved. So, in answer to your question moving agency for more money won't effect your chances of being approved. Kind Regards, Rachel
